What is Ultra Clear Glass Water Filter Media?
Ultraclear crushed glass filter media is made from virgin plate glass and only clear / white glass of superior quality is used in the manufacturing of Ultraclear Filter Media, giving it the competitive edge and superb mechanical filtration properties.
 
Ultraclear Activated Glass Water Filter Media is used widely in water treatment systems and water purification applications such as Reverse Osmosis Pre-Treatment, Deep Bed Media Filtration, Drinking Water Filtration, Groundwater Purification, Seawater Desalination and Waste Water Treatment.
 
During the filter media raw product glass manufacturing process, raw materials are fed into a furnace, heated to a temperature of up to1600 °C. These raw materials include Silica (SiO2), Soda (Na2O), Lime (CaO) and a number of metal oxides. The metal oxides melt at a lower temperature compared to Silica, Soda and Lime. A slurry is formed during the melting process and when the slurry is cooled, an ultrapure glass structure is formed. 
 
What makes Ultra Clear glass water filter media so unique is its high level of purity, containing very little iron oxides (Fe2O3). A negative charge is created by the introduction of a small concentration of metal oxides (Cr2O3, TiO2, Al2O3, K2O, etc.). These molecular structures are all negatively charged (𝑋𝑂-) molecules.
 
If the metal oxide content in the glass is too high, the water filtering through the media will have a high conductivity, hence affecting the ability of your glass filter media to absorb numerous metals (𝑋+). Ultrapure is a special manufactured glass filter media contains the perfect balance of metal oxides that enhances the filter medias absorption capabilities. 
 
Ultra Clear activated glass filter media is a Glass Filter Media that uses Virgin Glass as a raw material and has a final particle shape that is sub-angular with a high spherical contact between media grains. Ultraclear glass filter media is negatively charged allowing a self-sterilizing surface, when in contact with water flowing through the filter media, a small amount of free radicals (O− and HO−) are formed on the surface. These free radicals have a very strong oxidation potential which protects the media from bacterial growth.
